Junge Philarmonie Wien (The Youth Vienna Orchestra)

The world-renowned Junge Philarmonie Wien (the Youth Vienna Orchestra) will be in Malta to give two special concerts on the 22nd, and the 23rd October 2016 at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta.

The ‘Junge Philarmonie Wien’ is Austrias elite orchestra of young talents, which is musically fashioned in the Viennese tradition (Mozart, Mahler). It was founded in 1997 by conductor Michael Lessky and important musicians of Viennese orchestras as Wiener Philharmoniker and Wiener Symphoniker.

The ‘Junge Philarmonie Wien, concerts will be held on Saturday 22nd October and Sunday 23rd October. Booking is now open from the Manoel Theatre Box Office, or online at www.teatrumanoel.com.mt. The Junge Philarmonie Wien will feature solo excerpts by soprano Miriam Cauchi (Saturday 22nd), and soprano Nicola Said together with mezzo-soprano Christine Dalli (Sunday 23rd). The concerts will include music from different traditions, with pieces by composers who include Mozart and Mahler, alongside Malta’s own Joseph Vella.

This concert is being organised in collaboration with the Honorary Consulate General for Austria, and is being held in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
